1. Ruby Throated Hummingbird
Ruby-throated Hummingbird has been by far the most seen hummingbird in most regions of America especially in the states which are east of the Mississipi river such as Alabama, Florida, West Virginia, Ohio, Maryland, Rhode Island, and others. Ruby-Throated Hummingbirds' scientific name is Archilochus colubris. It is generally seen in central America and Mexico in the season of winter while it migrates to the eastern North American States in summer. 2. Northern Cardinal Bird
Northern Cardinals are generally called Angry birds, cardinals, or red cardinals. Northern Cardinal bird is red in color with a black colored area around its beak. The scientific name of Northern Cardinal is Cardinalis cardinalis. Female Cardinals can be easily identified as they are generally pale brown in color. The Diet of Northern cardinal is mostly seeds. They can be found in the regions of the east to southern Canada and from the state of Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont to Texas.
3. Red-winged Blackbird
Red-winged Blackbird is another common bird that is found in the United States. It is a fully black colored bird with a red pinch on its feathers. Red Winged blackbirds scientific name is Turdus merula. Lockheed Sr 71 Blackbird is inspired by this bird. They eat from earthworms to a large and wide variety of small insects. They generally prey on the ground.
4. Blue Jay Bird
Blue Jay Bird is another common bird that can be found around the various states of America such as Florida, Texas, Pennsylvania, and others. Blue Jay is a blue colored bird and it is also very common in the Southern parts of Canada such as Ontario and Toronto. Blue Jay call and sound is very loud and many Blue Jay eat and feed on their baby blue jays. Their breeding season starts from the month of March and goes on till the month of July. Female Blue Jay Bird is smaller in size compared to Male Blue Jay.
5. European Starling
European Starling is also known as the Common Starling bird. The scientific name for European Starling is Sturnus vulgaris. They are considered a threat as they create sanitation problems if they enter a house by building nests at unwanted places and they are also carriers of many viruses that can be transferred to humans. Main diet of European Starling is larva, caterpillars and fruits.
6. American Robin
American Robin is a small-sized passerine bird that can be found in almost all states of America. The scientific name of American Robin is Turdus migratorius. They are sometimes called Red robin bird because of its red-colored breast. One interesting American Robin fact is that Robin eggs are blue in color because of the chemical biliverdin. They usually lay 3 to 4 eggs.
7. Mourning Dove
The Mourning Dove is from the family of Columbidae. The scientific name of Mourning Dove is Zenaida macroura. They have usually small heads as compared to their body size. They mostly fly on straight lines and perch near the ground. These are very intelligent birds and care for their partners. They use same nest over and over again.
8. Canada Goose
Canada Goose is a large-sized bird that is mostly wild. Itis interchangeably used with Canadian Goose. The scientific name for Canada Goose is Branta canadensis. The well known Canada Goose Jackets and Canada Goose coats are from it but from coyotes. These are migratory species and can fly for about 3200 miles for migration.
9. Downy Woodpecker
Downy Woodpeckers are small woodpeckers with the scientific name of Picoides pubescens. Downy Woodpecker call is very loud. They are also called red head woodpecker due to red spots over its head. Downy woodpecker has grey and white feathers while the hairy woodpecker has pure white ones. They are mostly insects eating birds.
10. Mallard Ducks
Mallard is a dabbling duck species with a scientific name as Anas platyrhynchos. They are one of the social animals and can be very friendly with Humans. Mallard calls are generally loud with females doing the most of it. Diet of Mallard includes various small aquatic plants and sedges.
11. Dark Eyed Junco Bird
Dark eyed Junco birds are from the Junco species. The scientific name for Junco is Junco hyemalis. Female Dark eyed Junco searches for nests location mostly in a depression or along a slope. Dark Eyed Junco diet is mostly insects such as caterpillars and larvas. They do eat seeds of plants and fruits. It lays for about 3 to 6 eggs at once.
